Viv\u00eda bien con mi familia e Valencia. Mi oficio me daba para eso. Pero un d\u00eda, al salir del banco, despu\u00e9s de retirar un dinero, me siguieron unos delincuentes para atracarme. Me resist\u00ed  y me pegaron 7 tiros. Qued\u00e9 inv\u00e1lido. Pas\u00e9 un a\u00f1o sin poder moverme\u201d. Y prosigue Am\u00edlcar su relato. \u201cLa recuperaci\u00f3n fue muy lenta. Un a\u00f1o para aprender a pararme, otro para manejar una silla de ruedas\u2026Pero, no soy un in\u00fatil \u00a1para nada!.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de seis a\u00f1os de aquel lamentable hecho que sucedi\u00f3 en 1996, Am\u00edlcar volvi\u00f3 a Barquisimeto, donde hab\u00eda nacido.  Vio una peque\u00f1a escultura en un centro comercial, hecha de metal  y se dijo que \u00e9l pod\u00eda hacer algo parecido.  Prob\u00f3 y prob\u00f3. \u201cUna voz dentro de m\u00ed me dec\u00eda que yo si era capaz.\u201d Y comenz\u00f3 a hacer piezas con tornillos, tuercas, buj\u00edas\u2026 pero, no s\u00f3lo son obras de arte por la creatividad hecha belleza, todas tienen movimiento. \u201cMe gustaba la f\u00edsica. Sacarle movimiento a las figuras\u201d. Su taller, en una zona popular de la capital larense, parece un parque infantil en miniatura:  ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as en columpios, \u201csub\u00ed-bajas\u201d, equilibristas de un circo, aviones\u2026 Basta una brisa o un dedo que empuje un poco y los ni\u00f1os juegan, los equilibristas avanzan sin caerse\u2026 \u201cMe gusta que los peque\u00f1os toquen las obras. Siempre se les dice que no toquen. Yo, al rev\u00e9s, les digo que toquen.\u201d  As\u00ed va contando Am\u00edlcar, desde su silla de ruedas, su historia.<\/p>\n<p>No ha sido f\u00e1cil, sobre todo hacerse respetar como artista, superar la discriminaci\u00f3n. \u201cTodo el mundo piensa que porque estoy en una silla de ruedas ando pidiendo limosna. No se dan cuenta que todos tenemos necesidades especiales y no por eso todos somos in\u00fatiles. Yo no puedo caminar, pero puedo hacer muchas cosas.\u201d A su lado est\u00e1n las evidencias, el producto de su trabajo. <\/p>\n<p>Sus obras de arte, alegran la mirada m\u00e1s exigente. Tengo una en mi casa, y me sonr\u00edo cada ma\u00f1ana al verla: una ni\u00f1a y un ni\u00f1o jugando. Cuando le pregunt\u00e9 cu\u00e1l era su m\u00e1s grande satisfacci\u00f3n me dijo:  \u201cVer la cara de los que compran mis obras.\u201d Seguro que vio la m\u00eda. Debe tener muchas satisfacciones. Ya est\u00e1 exportando obras, \u00a1es internacional!<\/p>\n<p>Am\u00edlcar es adem\u00e1s un gran inventor. Cuando comenz\u00f3 su recuperaci\u00f3n,  adquiri\u00f3 un carro y lo adapt\u00f3 para que pudiera manejarlo a pesar de la inmovilidad de sus piernas. Va a Valencia y a Caracas con frecuencia,  manejando su carro.  Sigue con su humildad y sencillez franciscana.<\/p>\n<p>Hace unos a\u00f1os vol\u00f3 en parapente. \u201cDespu\u00e9s de ver la tierra desde arriba no pude mirar la vida de la misma manera. Ahora quiero volar en paraca\u00eddas\u201d y dijo algo m\u00e1s que no le entend\u00ed, tal vez porque Am\u00edlcar siempre me  sorprende y me deja sin palabras, lo cual es mucho decir.<\/p>\n<p>No puedo mostrar en un papel las maravillas  que he visto en su taller. Lo escucho y pienso que todo el pa\u00eds debe conocer su historia.  La violencia delincuencial deja secuelas terribles, sin embargo Am\u00edlcar hace que uno se olvide por un momento de la real guerra asim\u00e9trica y crea en el ser humano.  Los venezolanos tenemos mucho que aprender de gente como \u00e9l.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a1Gracias, Am\u00edlcar, por tus ni\u00f1os de tuercas! \u00a1Gracias por existir!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cSiempre hab\u00eda sido herrero.
