Parece haber consenso en que la profunda crisis que vivimos es, en definitiva, una crisis moral, de personas, de valores.<\/p>\n<p>Me preocupa mucho, sin embargo, que la educaci\u00f3n en valores sea meramente una moda, algo de lo que cada vez hablamos m\u00e1s y m\u00e1s, pero que no se vaya traduciendo \u00a0en una clarificaci\u00f3n profunda de los valores personales y en una decisi\u00f3n radical de irlos sustituyendo por otros. Siempre, por ejemplo, que en un curso o en un taller pregunto a los asistentes cu\u00e1les son sus valores m\u00e1s importantes, enseguida suelen ponerse muy serios y empiezan a enunciar supuestos valores: honestidad, respeto, justicia, sinceridad, responsabilidad\u2026 Y suele quedarme la impresi\u00f3n de que \u201crecitan\u201d valores, lo que se supone que deben decir, pero ni se les ocurre ponerse a pensar si en verdad eso que dicen es para ellos un valor y mucho menos si lo viven o practican.<\/p>\n<p>Todo valor, para serlo realmente, debe ser percibido \u00a0como un bien, como algo por lo que merece la pena trabajar o esforzarse y que gratifica o da vida. Si yo digo, por ejemplo, que el trabajo es un valor, pero huyo de \u00e9l siempre que puedo, estoy afirmando con mi actuaci\u00f3n que lo que realmente valoro es la vagancia o la flojera y que considero al trabajo como un antivalor. \u00a0Lo mismo podr\u00edamos decir de todos los otros supuestos valores \u201cproclamados\u201d: honestidad, creatividad, respeto, solidaridad, responsabilidad\u2026 que, de hecho, podemos percibirlos \u00a0como antivalores si lo que apreciamos y valoramos es el vivismo, la rutina, el capricho, el ego\u00edsmo, la irresponsabilidad\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>En definitiva, \u00a0algo no llega a ser un aut\u00e9ntico valor para alguien, hasta que esa persona se compromete y organiza su vida en funci\u00f3n de ese valor. Si para m\u00ed la justicia es un valor fundamental, no s\u00f3lo ser\u00e9 justo en mi trato con los dem\u00e1s, sino que me esforzar\u00e9 por combatir todo tipo de injusticia y trabajar\u00e9 por establecer una sociedad que tenga a la justicia en sus cimientos. Lo mismo podr\u00edamos decir de la honestidad y de\u00a0 todos los dem\u00e1s valores proclamados. No s\u00f3lo\u00a0 ser\u00e9 honesto, sino que no permitir\u00e9\u00a0 actitudes deshonestas o \u00a0corruptas, ni ser\u00e9 amigo de las personas que lo son.<\/p>\n<p>Con frecuencia, \u201caprendemos\u201d valores, y s\u00f3lo los apreciamos verbalmente, pero no los vivimos. No son valores reales para nosotros. Y hasta podemos ser predicadores incansables de valores y demostrar con la vida lo contrario. \u201cObras son amores y no buenas razones\u201d, dice el viejo refr\u00e1n castellano, o en palabras de Mart\u00ed, \u201cla mejor manera de decir es hacer\u201d. Yo resumo mi pedagog\u00eda en este principio:\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cUno explica lo que sabe, pero\u00a0 ense\u00f1a lo que es\u201d.
